Roe deer info:

England, Wales and Northern Ireland: (in season)
Bucks – Apr 1 to Oct 31
Does – Nov 1 to Mar 31

Scotland:
Bucks – Apr 1 to Oct 20
Does – Oct 21 to Mar 31

  • Rut is around July
  • Antlers cast around December
  • Delays implanting foetus until Dec/Jan
  • Most young born in May
  • Often has twins

Random Roe Facts

Roe deer do not have a visible tail – although the doe has a ‘tush’ of downward facing hairs which resembles a tail

Roe kids are born away from other deer in quiet areas,  where they are left alone between feeding times
